RMK Nail Color EX CL-08 Pink Rose swatch and review

These are the new RMK nail color EX collections. I think CL-08 Pink Rose is a regular shade (but RMK does revamp its lines every few years so sometimes things just go out of stock).

In the bottle it looks like a typical muted pink rose (as the name suggests). It looks like a gel-creme, slightly jelly sort of consistency. There's no shimmer or glitters or iridescence. Looks semi opaque but not super creamy.

Here below with two coats on the nail. I actually used the Kanebo Coffret D'or topcoat- which turned out to be rather slow drying and made a few nails looked a bit dull because of sheet marks.

A few different lightings:

As you can see it's a very delicate, pretty soft pink rose. It applies true to the bottle, nice and glossy finish.  It's a really feminine shade and superb for office days. Consistency for this shade was marvelous too, with 1 coat it was more a jelly gloss and still quite pretty. Two coats gave full color coverage smoothly.

Thumbs up to this shade, not super unique but very pretty and easy to wear and apply.

5/5.

RMK Nail Color EX P-03 Medium Beige review/ swatch

I actually wore this shade a bit longer ago but never got around to sorting the photos. I decided to review this right after the Maquillage BE223 shade so you can see how much the underlying beige tones can change the overall look of the nail color.

This is RMK Nail Color EX in P-03 medium beige, "P" stands for "Pearl" in the RMK nail polish charts.

It looks rather beautiful in the bottle, like a neutral soft beige with some white or silver based shimmers- the shimmers are so fine it's more like pearlized shimmers.

Each RMK polish contains 12ml.

Ok here is where the 'slight' disappointment comes in. It's actually a little bit 'thick' for me in terms of consistency- you can see the finger tip on the very right has a unnaturally thick layer since I accidentally gooped on too much (and couldn't be bothered to restart given I usually apply my nail colors right before bedtime).

Consistency aside, the color is probably too nude for my liking. It is true nude beige with a white/silvery pearl finish, there isn't too much peach or pink inside to balance it out. If it came with a golden pearl shimmer it might work better? However it is a unique color indeed and I cannot think of anything else I have remotely similar. Reminds me slightly of Chanel cashmere nail polish at most in terms of base color but it is still quite different.

I can imagine it might look a bit too 'bandaid' color like for people with even more tanned skintones.

Overall 2/5. It's not a terrible color or terrible consistency, just that I've had nicer nudes and beiges. It'll be unfair to say I hate it given the color code name does clearly say Medium Beige and this is exactly what you get =P

RMK Nail Color EX20 Shimmery White review/ swatch

RMK Nail Color EX20 (I forgot the color code's actual English name, sorry! so I'm just calling it shimmery white. It was released in 2008 as part of the limited edition items.

It's basically is what it looks in the bottle- a shimmery ivory white. It's really quite "white" in color, it's not stark white just yet, but indeed very borderline to that unless you have really pale skin.   I would say it's a moonlight white.

It's shimmery with 2 coats and probably full opaque in 3.

Overall 3/5. In certain angles and when I'm particularly pale, this looks really clean on my nails and pretty. However under other lights or when I'm a bit more tanned, this simply looks a bit too white a color and not natural enough.

RMK P05 Natural Pink Beige Nail Color polish Review/ Swatch

RMK P05 Natural Pink belongs to the new and revamped RMK nail color collection from late 2010, it is still part of the permanent collection.  I think RMK reduced their nailpolish size slightly (now at 12ml) but lowered the prices, hoping to encourage more purchases.

Here's the official photo:
Here's my picture- you can see the official photo's pretty spot on.

P05 Natural Pink Beige, as the name describes, is a gorgeous gorgeous jelly soft babypink nude, there is very little beige inside, so the baby pink is dominant. It's got a jelly like creme finish, absolutely gorgeous! dries super shiny, I couldn't stop staring as this. It looks like my nails but far better, glossier and definitely one of my top nude nails out there.

There's no shimmers or sparkles in this, just a shiny jelly with a good color payoff (for a baby pink nude shade anyway).

I'm wearing 2 coats below.

Overall 6 out of 5. (yes it's gone off the scale...because I love this!).

RMK Nail Color EX (the EX here means new generation, as these are the revamped lines, as opposed to limited edition shades) features 30 new shades:

I will look forward to reviewing a lot of the other shades!

RMK Recover Gel Intensive Night Treatment Anti-Roughness and Hydration

I have to admit I'm a bit of an easy target for makeup companies that sell things of interesting consistency or formulation.

RMK Recover Gel is one of them- it's basically a treatment moisturiser (I don't see any warning against being used daily so presumably fine as a night time moisturiser regularly). It's a gel consistency (with a faint grapefruit yummy smell that I don't mind at all), with a lot of small white beads inside, that supposedly releases active ingredient once massaged into face.

Direction of use actually says apply after your night time toner and moisturiser, then apply this last as a treatment.  Apply a dollop onto face, massage in, then lightly press palm over your face to help absorb.

I just apply this after my toner anyway.

I take about 2 pea sized amounts then dot around my face, then massage in until all the white particles dissappear (takes no time at all, not longer than applying usual night time moisturisers).  It does dry a bit tacky, but not unbearable. Definitely for at night though because it probably wouldn't sit under makeup at all.

Here's what it looks like on the skin before and after.

Here's a terrible pic of the ingredients, since I can't read Japanese anyway so I didn't attempt to take another picture... =P

It's 40g and retails for 5800Yen, which is about 60USD? Not the cheapest item for sure.

Overall I've used this one and off for 6 months and not too sure what it does.

Used it again last night and made a point of putting on a bit extra, and massaging it in.

It didn't really calm my slightly irritated face immediately (lack of sleep the night before), when I woke up in the morning, actually noticed 2 or 3 very small congested spots or irritations. I'm not sure whether it's associated with the lack of sleep or this gel cream! They did go away very quickly overnight (back on my regular skincare).

Other than that, my skin felt a bit smoother, it is relatively hydrated (but then hydration hasn't been much of a problem lately).

Will try again when I'm more rested this week.

Tentative rating: 3.5/5

Will update if my thoughts change about this.

RMK Nail Color EX - P17 Cherry

RMK released its new nail color range in 2010- with easily about 30 colors, and since then each seasonal collection also features specially limited edition nailpoilsh shades. (if it's limited edition it will have an "EX" in front of the number code).

P17's "P" denotes for Pearl finish I think, there's also other various finishes like creme and metallic and Holographic (which isn't really holographic but more like a shimmer).

P17 Cherry- as the name suggest (RMK is generally true to color names) - is a brightening (without being too bright and garish) summery cherry splash of red. It's looks really juicy and clean on the nails.

I know it shows like there's some flecks of shimmer, I think they are really subtle silver flecks, so on the nails you cant really see obvious shimmers- it's more there to make sure the red is not just a flat color. You have to look really close to my nails to see any trace of the silver shimmer.

It's 12ml, RRP 1500 Yen. Comes in a very solid and lovely glass packaging, square base.

Sorry I only took the photos after about 3 days so it's showing some tip wear ( unfortunately seche vite topcoat is giving me a lot of shrinkage at the edge too).

The finish, consistency is comparable to OPI (I suppose it's almost as expensive too when I'm thinking about it in terms of AUD RRP price).

You can find RMK in most Asian countries like Taiwan, HK and Japan. Not sure which online stores carry this- I would guess try ebay or ichibankao.com

RMK Nail Color #101 Holographic Soft Pink review/ swatch

RMK has a very complete nail color range, it was ravamped in late 2010, and continues to grow.

Every season RMK tend to release a few more permanent colors in addition to some limited edition shades. The limited edition shades start with the code "EX".

I like the way RMK names their polish shades, they are true to the names. If they say it's holographic soft pink, that's probably how it will largely turn out. Here's #101 holographic soft pink (from 2008 spring collection, limited edition) :

I'm not sure whether Holographic is just the word the Japanese cosmetic brand chose, I would say it's more properly described as 'flashing another color', but not quite duochrome. #101 is a medium geranium shimmery pink that flashes some green. The green flash is very subtle, barely picked up in my photo. However it does add an interesting touch to the color.

Here it is from another angle, where the green flash is far less obvious.

Overall 5/5.

RMK nailpolishes are of high quality, they apply easily, does take a little longer to dry (but nothing a fast dry top coat won't fix).

RMK Spring 2010 product promo photos

Can't believe it's spring collection time soon again! as usual, most Japanese brands start pushing out the typical Spring shades, i.e. what you'd imagine as including pastels, pinks, light greens, aquas and lilacs (these two years a lot more Japanese brands started pushing out the pale amber/apricot shades too).
Here are some sneak preview of RMK 2010 Spring palettes- unfortunately I don't have real product photos just yet. Again, please click to enlarge.
5 eyeshadow palettes (don't the promo swatch make several shades seem almost the same?? There are 5 different palettes available). Retails for 4500Yen.
Cheek color palettes, 3 colors each, retails for 4000 Yen.
Irresistable Lips C lipsticks, 3 colors Nail Color, 4 shades
I'm finding the last Spring collection definitely looking like they were prettier (unfortunately they were fairly pastel/ sheerer too)- Spring 2009 was a lot more etheral looking..
However, you never know! I'm definitely getting my hands on the Cheek colors though, RMK products great blushes that has a great luminosity. Same with the eyeshadow, they have a good array of textures and colors from their 2009 revamped single eyeshadows range- excited to be able to get palettes since it's such a better value.
Here was Spring 2009:

RMK 2009 Spring Translucence- product pic preview!

RMK lot 3.jpg

RMKclose up.jpg

Finally received the full RMK Spring 2009 Translucence collection, here's the whole lot.

Will gradually release posts on this along with swatches this week.

First pic:

* Top left 2 are "Translucent Cheek & Eyes" which contains dual purpose powders for both cheek and eyes.

Here's a description from RMK- 1,2,3,6 are contouring/blush shades, 4 and 5 are eyeshadow shades. 5 can be used to layer on top of contour/blushes or eyeshadows to add some shimmering hues, a very versatile color.1229486365(pic source: iswii.net)

6 is an iridescent pearl finish, used to create a bright yet translucent texture. Repeated layering with this color should not mess up the overall finish or make it murky, instead it will add translucent lustre to create an airy and lucent spring look.

* Middle top 2 are 'translucent cheek colors' in #01 and #02.

* To the far right are the 5 eyeshadow duos, each featuring an iridescent pink shimmery base shade and a feature color.

* Bottom left are the 3 'Irresistible Lips B' lipsticks in #23, #24 and #25 (from bottom to top).

* Bottom middle lipsticks are the 2 "Irresistible Lips C" lipsticks in #24 (below, and 25 on the top.

* Middle are the two lipglosses in #35 (below) and #36 (top).

(See below for matching color names and prices).

1229485802

RMK 2009 Spring collection theme is "Translucence", it's all about translucency in the color and texture, predominantly a sweet soft pink theme coupled with the usual flowers and petals a lot of brands go for as Spring collection (this somehow reminds me of the Dior 2008 Spring collection..pinks petals and flowers). RMK is going for a light, airy feel with elegance instead of an overly sweet/cute finish.

(as usual, official pics and product Chinese descriptions sourced from iswii.net )

I rarely purchase the full collection out of any brands for any seasonl releases, however this was an exception since I simply couldn't decide! (and eyeshadow duos seem a lot smaller than usual 4 or 5-color eyeshadow palettes...errrm yeah trying very hard to convince myself here..)

The 3 nailpolishes lost their way in the post, so I'll post the remaining pictures and add to this post later once they arrive.
