Anna Sui Nail Color N Ongles #310 review/ swatches

Here's a nail of the day post again. Today I'm wearing Anna Sui's nail color N in shade #310.

It looks like a gorgeous soft pink with a touch of rose in the bottle, it looks slightly cool toned, almost like there's a tiniest hint of mauve.

As usual it comes in Anna Sui's signature design bottles (Anna Sui has changed the bottle design numerous times in recent years and I'm beginning to lose track of what it looks like nowadays! for Christmas holiday collections or other limited editions, she often comes out with yet another bottle design unique to the collection as well).

The handle has rose print on the top.

Here's a quick swatch with two coats of the polish. One coat was a bit uneven, which is common for polishes in this color family and finish.

The finish is a semi translucent creme, its not a full opaque creme but it gives an even coverage appearance with two coats.

It looks all pretty and very spring-like color. It's not all that unique, but I can't exactly think of dupes either. Though if you ever buy any Japanese nail polishes there are tonnes of various pinks in this family so you don't necessarily need to resort to Anna Sui brand either.

The brush is sort of small/medium sized, it's quite average, not as easy to apply as OPI prowide brushes, but not particularly bad either.

As with most Anna Sui polishes, she adds a lot of rose scent into the polish, even after days you can still smell the signature rose scent on your nail tip (not sure if it's that a great thing because it would indicate a lot of scent additive).

I think there's micro shimmers in this, in the same color as the polish base, but almost non existent once applied on the nails. It does help the color with a bit  more glow but doesn't make it a shimmer finish or anything, it's still clearly in the translucent creme shade category.

Overall rating 4/5, it's nice to keep and a rather 'clean' looking pink against my skintone. However not unique enough to spend full RRP on (probably about 15-20USD in Asia).

Anna Sui Nail Color N Vernis polish #405 Flaming Red review/ swatch

This is a review for the Anna Sui Nail Color N collection, in shade #405. (I'm not sure what the English shade name is, but I'll call it a flaming red).

Comes in the beautiful rose shaped bottle again.

You can see how it's a solid red in the bottle

On the nails- sorry for the awkhard angle- I did a pretty poor job at applying this like at midnight. I usually do not clean up the edges until the next morning (when the polish dries).

Here it is- look how glossy it is (no topcoat here). It's such a liquid luscious looking red. It's bright, but not neon. Quite a true cool blue toned red. However at some angles, I think there's almost a hint of coral.

Overall a lovely red, it's full opacity in 2 coats, ultra shiny and glossy, applies very smoothly (the polish is almost too fluid that's why it caught me offguard and I applied it a bit messier than usual).

It's not a jelly finish polish, but somehow reminds me of a jelly color, as the finish is so clean and crisp (as opposed to the dullness of a full red creme at times). I would call it a very pigmented jelly color.  Looks better on paler girls I think.

Rating of 5/5. I did apply seche vite top coat after photographing, but as with most darker polishes, I do find I get tipwear by end of day 2 or 3.  (I suppose with darker shades any wear is a lot more visible too).

Anna Sui Nail Color N Vernis polish #013 review/ swatch

Anna Sui Nail color N are about the new generation of nail polish from Anna Sui from around 2010 to mid 2011 (in 2011 they revamped the nailpolish designs again, personally I think these rose bottles are by far the prettiest).

I'm reviewing polish color in #013, not sure if there's an English corresponding name apart of the color coding, does not appear so. The full size bottle comes in 10ml.

#013 is an ivory cream (as in color of cream) base with loads of pink and white iridescent shimmers. Some of the shimmers flash a tiny bit of green, but predominately it flashes pink and champagne.

Here it is on the nails- honestly I expected a bit more 'white' from the bottle, but because of its translucency, it doesn't quite translate to what I expected on the nails.

The cream colored base does not mask the bit of champagne/pink shimmer which seems to give a yellow cast to my nails and make my tip look a bit grey. They are not naturally super white but this shade just makes it look a bit blah grey/ yellow.

I didn't apply top coat on these as they seemed to dry quite quickly. However, the shimmers are not flat, so my nails don't feel very smooth on the surface (but in real life it looks smooth from a distance and certainly glossy enough on its own without needing a topcoat).

This picture below shows the white flash you get from some angles better.

This picture below shows the more pink flash. Which is closer to indoor real life.

Overall I don't really love this color at all. It's a bit bland and definitely not as pretty as it seems in the bottle, and no color is good if it makes your nails look yellow!

Overall rating for quality of polish is 4/5  (wish the shimmers were smoother and doesn't give a bumpy texture). However the application is smooth and even and dries quick enough, and the shimmers are evenly distributed.

As for the color, only gets a 2/5 from me. Probably need to be layered on top of other opaque shades, which I shall try later.

Anna Sui Dolly Girl Lil' Starlet Nail Color #01 Liz (2008 Summer holiday)

Anna Sui 2008 summer holiday collection nail color, released in Taiwan May 9th 2008. These are $590NT (18USD) for a set of 3, each bottle is 7.9ml (smaller than usual size of 10ml which retails for $500NT (approx 15USD).
Unfortunately I only managed to get 1 of them, which is #01 "Liz", the pink star featuring a crystal pink as base color, with silvery pearl shine and large pink flakes.
The other two color descriptions based on Chinese infos I found:
#02 Clara is the flamey red star, features fire red with pink pearl shine and large pink flakes.
#03 Myrna is the gold star, with a golden base tone and golden pearl shine and flakes.
(colors from left to right #01, #02, #03).
I think I can finally get back to posting...some crazy work and study commitments really took up a lot of my time (in addition to by holiday back to Taiwan! not many cosmetics purchases surprisingly though!). Apologies to any blog followers :)
A quick and easy post about an Anna Sui nail color (followed by my previous post about Shu Uemura nail color for a reason).
The bottle has a cute Anna Sui doll on the print (personally I've never really been into Anna Sui dolls..they look a tad...creepy? to me...I'm more fond of the Stila girls to be honest). The bottle is different to the old design in the potion vial shaped design, or the new nail color design in the pretty rose bottle, it's just a plain round bottle now.
Now the color, it's a sugary pink with very even metallic reflective shimmers throughout, it's very fine, a bit like the base shimmer in various OPI shades like, 'Princesses Rule!' and "Cozu melted in the sun" etc, sort of foiled metallic finish. The only twist is it also has fine glitters inside, then also large round silvery rainbowy glitters for an ultimate glamour bamm!
While the pink is a bit standard, but the varying sized shimmers (they are actually 3 uniform varying sizes- the metallic foil shimmer -> the fine glitters -> larger circular glitter flakes. This gives a great dimension to the polish, with a topcoat applied over it, it still looks glossy and very glamorous-princess sort of look.
Two coats with Seche vite top coat, indoor flash:

I thought the pink base reminds me a little bit of the OPI 'Cherry Blossom' color, but on further inspection the OPI one is more subdued and low profile sort of spring color (nevertheless, it does sparkle a little bit!), while the Anna Sui one is a tad more vibrant and summer-like.
OPI here:
The shimmers and glitters in #01 Liz nail color is quite similar to the silvery color in the Shu Uemura Phantasm nail color trio collection "glitter" shade (another LE), featuring silvery glitters and circular glitter flakes etc, other than it is more wearable on its own since there is sufficient base color.
On my nails you can see two coats gives great opacity to the pink tones.
Overall excellent quality polish, fast drying, layers easily, despite the larger looking flakes, they adhere to the nails well and still managers to apply in a smooth layer. With topcoat it looks glossy, however due to the size of the larger glitter flakes it will feel a tiny bit bumpy on the nails when you touch it (not annoyingly bumpy though).
Thumbs up, I've been wearing this to work for a few days (not out to client) and it's understated enough not to look tacky, while glamorous enough to receive a few compliments. This was an limited edition release so might be a bit harder to find though.
Features signature Anna Sui rose scent (it actually masks any traditional polish odour, I can smell the rose scent for at least a full day later on my finger tips even after showers etc )
The summer collection also features 3 lipcolors (#01 Liz, pink, #02 Clara, red, #03 Myrna, gold, all have simlar color descriptions to the nail colors, e.g. pink base with silver shimmers or red with pink and silver shimmers or gold with loads of golden shimmers), and 3 mascaras (lengthening, curling, separation).

I have a black one I use for random makeup storage, it's pretty small but actually surprisingly heavy, so keep that in mind when you are shopping!
