Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask review

Origins drink up line has been around for a while, first came in the original mask, then variations of the mask. This is the "Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask" , which is a light creamy mask intended to be applied twice a week at night time, just massage in a dollop size (I usually do about 3 pea sizes) before bedtime, then tissue off any excess.

main ingredients are glycerine, hyalruonic acid, apricot kernel oil etc.

Ingredient list and instructions, click to enlarge

Comes in a flip top cap, and squeeze tube. Usually I'm not a fan of these caps since they tend to snap easily on the plastic closure bit and the cap falls off.

Comes in 100ml tubes. Here's a swatch- the consistency is lightly vanilla cream colored, the scent is a very pleasant, slightly sweet fruity scent that is not nauseating.

I usually apply on clean skin after showers (sometimes I use toner first, sometimes I dont). Then I massage in a bit just during application, but no particular techniques, just a quick 20 seconds massage.

I apply a generous amount given 100ml of product is quite a lot. Then I let it sit on the face and soak for a good 15-20min (and dry my hair in the meantime or something), then before I go to bed, I take a cotton swab and saturate with some water, then quickly wipe/pat off any excess (without being too rigorous and rub everything off). This helps with any stickiness issues when you go to bed (once it soaks in a bit it is slightly tacky to touch). I do not use a moisturiser before or after this.

Next morning I'm left with hydrated, plump looking skin.

I've tried this for a few months over different skin condition days. It doesn't really do much when you have clogged pores or congestions. It doesn't do enough for really super cold winters when your skin is peeling. However it works the best during change of seasons where my face is just a bit taught (however if it's already irritated this does nothing for it). I would say it's about mildly hydrating.

I have sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts, but not particularly too oily any more.

Overall 3.5/5. It's not bad, but not sure if I would repurchase- it is not a 'emergency" fix-everything mask, but rather just a nice regular treatment during your normal skin days.

Origins Make A Difference Skin Rejuvenating Treatment review

Origins Make A Difference Skin rejuvenating treatment is probably marketed as a moisturiser/serum type of product. It's one of those samples that I keep on getting every single time I shop at Origins, so I never purchased a full size one, but did go through a few 5ml tubes over the year.

It's a soft creamy gel-creme consistency. The thing I love about the Make a Difference line is the scent! It's sooooo lovely. Smells a bit like white tea with a hint of grapefruit, something very clean and crisp and soft.

On the skin- it just makes the skin ultra smooth and soft to touch.

Now everything I've said about this product sounds lovely so far- however, bottomline is I think this is so similar to Estee Lauder Idealist. They are basically serums/ moisturisers that leave a siliconey finish (i.e. ultra smooth and soft to touch). However as skincare items, they do very little ( and any smoothness is more superficial).

Overall 2/5. I do use it up on my cheeks or neck etc, but I rarely use this on my full face- it tends to give me slight irritation or clogged pores probably due to the silicone content. I don't really think there's any treatment qualities with this product either.

Origins Ginger Souffle Whipped Body Cream review

I love the Origins Ginger line- it's been around for at least 5-6 years, and is now a staple in the Origins collection.

There are various Ginger items like body lotion, bath lotion, body spray and now the Ginger Souffle.

The Ginger line features a slightly warm ginger scent (without that common sharpness of finger), but predominantly what I think it reminds me of is Coke! Like coke but less sweet.

I like very mildly scented body creams that's non-cloying and doesn't give me headaches and the Ginger line is one of them. It just smells wonderfully like a winter night cuddling with a warm cup of ginger tea or something.

Comes in a flip top cap, the souffle as you can see if like a whipped cream consistency that is buttery soft.

It spreads easily and carries the scent so gently.

Easily absorbed into the skin.

Overall this leaves my skin mildly hydrated. It's not as moisturising as my other staple body creams (Aveeno Daily moisturising lotion and Kiehls Creme de corp) but I usually just use this a few times a week when I feel like wearing a scented body lotion.

As with all fragrances, whether you like a scent is a personal preference.  I highly recommend the ginger line of scents if you like soft and foody scents that's not too sweet and sickening. It also doesn't have that 'alcohol' after scent with a lot of other fragrances.

Overall 5/5 for me for scent. As a body moisturiser the moisturising property is probably at best a 3.5 or 4.

Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Conditioning Lip Balm with Tumeric review

Origins x Dr Andrew Weil has a range of products releases steadily since around 2010. I'm not familiar with Dr Weil but do love a few of Origins items.

The Conditioning Lip balm is in a 4g roll up tube, not like a normal chapstick. There's a 'dial' on the bottom you use to twist it up.

It's not a round tube either but sort of oval like. Very simplistic packaging.

Here it is in the tube- doesn't look very pretty at all. It's a yellow lipbalm with a moderate firmness, which makes is really rather 'balmy' but I don't have trouble applying it (not as hard as carmex in the tub).  It's got a light lemon scent which is sort of nice, and not at all irritating.

Swatch on the skin- it leaves a light shine, not ultra shiny type of lipbalm, but it does provide a coat to the lip with 1 or 2 swipes easily.

Rest of the ingredient list, seems the main base is beeswax/ various seed oils and cocoa butter.

I have quite sensitive lips and find this rather non irritating. However it will not cure any active irritation like severely chapped lips. I'm on the fence about whether I'd repurchase- given the RRP is around 15USD which is on the very steep side.

For the texture, product itself alone without considering the price, I would give this 4.5/5. However for 15USD this probably is a 4/5 for me. I still prefer my Yuskin lip cream.

Origins No Puffery Cooling Mask for Puffy Eyes review

Origins No Puffery cooling mask is a refreshing translucent gel (can't really tell if there's any tint inside as the tube is translucent green , but the gel on the skin does appear colorless).

It is minimally scented, (or if anything, reminds me a bit of cucumber- literally scentless vegie).

It is meant to be a mask, apply generously to undereye area for 5-10 minutes, then tissue off.  Or it can be used like a normal eye cream/gel, just apply sparingly under your normal eye cream.

It is meant to be de-puffying, not so much intended for moisurising your under eye area.

Honestly I cannot tell whether this does anything, then again sometimes you use certain skincare for the pampering feeling (it does feel cool on the undereye and you don't have to close your eyes so while you apply this you can still do other things).

Here's what it looks like- it does squeeze out as a rather solid gel, but melts a bit on contact on the skin to a normal eye gel sort of felling.

Spreaded out:

Overall I did feel slightly depuffed, but as I expected this is no miracle worker, there are still some days where I sleep late, wake up with puffy eyes and this seemed to only help minimally.

I don't feel bad about slapping this on generaously, given it's 30ml  in size (most eyecreams are standard 15ml sizes).

Overall 3/5.

Will not repurchase- must be other fun skincare to try out there...hopefully something that depuffs better.
